Physical Science Toy Car Competition for Toys for Tots
The freshmen and sophomores in physical science have spent the last few weeks meeting the challenge of building a motorized gear-driven toy. Students designed compound gear trains with gear ratios designed for speed or for climbing. After interviewing elementary students ("the customers"), students also designed a toy body that would appeal to the target audience. Each team then completed a slides presentation giving their sales pitch and a commercial promoting their toy.
We are now presenting these commercials as a way to promote a fundraiser for the "Toys for Tots" program. The basic mission of the Marine Toys for Tots Program is to collect new unwrapped toys and distribute those toys to less fortunate children at Christmas.
The students are now competing to find out which commercial can receive the most donations! Making a donation through our website for "Toys for Tots" will cast your vote!
