
Resource Room Aide
Purpose:
Manhattan Christian School is seeking a special education aide who:
- Is enthusiastic about Christian education.
- Has a passion for working with students with disabilities from diverse backgrounds.
- Serves to assist the special education director and general education teachers in meeting the needs of individual students with significant needs.
- Will report to the special education director.
Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
This individual must exhibit a genuine, nurturing, caring attitude toward all students.
Responsibilities:
The special education aide will:
- Assist the special education teacher throughout the school day in addressing the needs of special education students as outlined by their Private School Service Plan.
- Provide one-on-one assistance to students.
- Assist students in small group instructional settings.
- Assist special education director in data collection.
- Assist classroom teachers with monitoring the students to ensure participation during classroom activities.
- Potentially address student personal hygiene needs.
- Responding to emergency situations as they arrive.
Requirements:
- Believe every child is made in God’s image and has gifts and abilities that will enrich their community.
- Model Christ-like behavior.
- Demonstrate ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in the school environment and community.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Interact with children, including bending, kneeling, sitting on the floor, climbing, and walking.
- Maintain a calm demeanor when interacting with students with behavioral challenges.
Terms of employment:
Hours of work and schedule are determined on an annual basis depending on the needs of the special education program.
Job compensation:
This position is an hourly paid position based on experience and education.
