Position Overview
Manhattan Christian School is seeking a caring, dependable, and Christ-centered long-term substitute teacher to serve in our Kindergarten classroom from December 2026 through April 2027, with the potential for the position to extend through the remainder of the school year.
The ideal candidate will provide a consistent and nurturing classroom environment where young students feel known, loved, and encouraged to grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. The substitute teacher will follow the classroom teacher’s established curriculum, routines, and expectations while building positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
Responsibilities
- Provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for Kindergarten students.
- Implement daily lessons and activities according to the established classroom plans and school curriculum.
- Maintain consistent classroom routines, expectations, and procedures.
- Support students’ academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development.
- Build positive and Christ-centered relationships with students.
- Incorporate Biblical truth and Christian values naturally throughout the school day.
- Demonstrate patience, kindness, grace, and respect in interactions with students.
- Monitor student progress and communicate relevant concerns or observations with the appropriate school staff.
- Maintain effective classroom management and promote a positive classroom culture.
- Communicate professionally and appropriately with parents and guardians.
- Collaborate with colleagues, specialists, and school leadership.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and other school activities as appropriate.
- Follow all Manhattan Christian School policies, procedures, and safety expectations.
- Fulfill other duties and responsibilities as assigned by school administration.
Qualifications
Required:
- Evident faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and a lifestyle consistent with being a disciple of Jesus.
- Commitment to the mission, values, and Christian identity of Manhattan Christian School.
- Ability to provide a positive, nurturing, and structured learning environment.
- Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
- Dependable, flexible, and able to work collaboratively with students, families, and staff.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with young children.
Preferred:
- Valid Montana teaching license or eligibility for Montana teacher licensure.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
- Previous elementary or Kindergarten teaching experience.
- Experience working in a Christian school setting.
