Technology Coordinator

General Job Description 
Assist the Head of School and the Board of Manhattan Christian School in the efficient management of the MCS Technology and Equipment. Work closely with the staff of Manhattan Christian School regarding the use of and implementation of technology in the classrooms and within the school building in general. This is a professional contract and salaried position. 

General Qualifications:

  • Must be committed to Christian Education in general (as defined, for example, in the MCS Statements of Faith and Purpose and to Manhattan Christian School in particular.
  • Must lead an exemplary Christian life, both in family and community settings.
  • Must be an active member in a church that would support the doctrinal standards of Manhattan Christian School.

Education and Experience: 

  • MCS would prefer that a candidate have a college degree related to technology.
  • Prefer a minimum of 2 years experience in the field of technology both in hardware and software management.
  • Consideration will be given to a candidate willing to pursue course work related to Educational Technology.

Duties: 

  • Collaborates with teachers in implementing technology into the curriculum. Works with the technology committee to suggest upgrades or new purchases of equipment or software.
  • Collaborates in structuring technology education of students, teachers and staff. Coordinates instruction to meet technology proficiency goals. Coordinates budget for computer resources including hardware, software, learning resources and training needs.
  • Recommends and purchases hardware, software and related resources. Installs software and hardware.
  • Provides troubleshooting on a limited basis. Coordinator will be available for simple troubleshooting of software and hardware for teachers, and will serve as a liaison with technology professionals to ensure technical problems are resolved. As coordinator of training in software, the coordinator will be expected to provide software guidance as needed as well.
  • Creates, maintains and oversees integration of the technology plan for school.
  • Maintains an inventory (including Asset ID tags) of technology equipment and materials.
  • Maintains an inventory of all software licenses purchased and used within the school.
  • Supports, maintains and troubleshoots school-wide technology that is PC based on a Windows platform.
  • Supports, maintains and troubleshoots school-wide technology carts (currently 7) including Chromebooks and iPads..
  • Participates in technology conferences and professional growth activities to update awareness of current software and hardware.
  • Monitors the school’s network including weekly backups, active directory accounts, and firewall blacklists.
  • Administers the school’s Microsoft account including all user accounts (staff & students).
  • Administers the school’s SIS (PowerSchool) including creating and populating the master schedule during the summer months.  All reports such as report cards, transcripts, and class rosters must also be created, maintained, and published at various times during the school year.
  • Administers the Google for Education account including all user’s accounts (staff & students) and sets security policy for each user group. Sets up and monitors school-wide Google calendars and mailing groups.
  • Serves as tech coordinator for all testing done at MCS (ACT, PSAT, MAP, etc) including installing and updating all required testing apps and testing for device compatibility.
  • Monitors all WAP (wireless access points), including updating, troubleshooting, and setting security passwords.
  • Administers all forms and paperwork annually for the school’s participation in the E-Rate program which is a government technology reimbursement program.

Compensation and Leave Arrangements: 

  • Wages commensurate with experience and as indicated on the MCS pay scale and based on assigned FTE. This will be a salaried position based on the FTE agreed upon.
  • Medical and Dental coverage available according to MCS policy. For benefits this position is treated as a Professional Educators Contract position.
  • Paid Medical leave and personal days will be prorated according to Professional Educators Contract policy.
  • Pay dates--12 installments on the last day of each month from September 30 through August 31. If the last day falls on a weekend the pay day is the last Friday of the month. Mid month draws can be arranged with the MCS Business Office.
