Spiritual Life Director

Job Summary – The Spiritual Life Director serves as a spiritual shepherd and leader within our PK-12 school community, fostering a Christ-centered atmosphere that supports the spiritual growth of students and families. This individual is responsible for building relationships with students, partnering with local churches and ministry leaders, coordinating chapel services, and teaching select Bible classes as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Spiritual Leadership and Student Engagement:

  • Serve as a visible and approachable spiritual mentor for students across all grade levels.
  • Build relationships with students through presence, conversation, discipleship opportunities, and involvement in school life.
  • Support students’ spiritual formation and provide guidance as needed in partnership with faculty and families. 

Chapel and Worship Coordination: 

  • Plan, coordinate, and lead weekly chapel services for elementary, middle, and high school students.
  • Recruit and support student involvement in chapel through worship teams, scripture reading, testimonies, and service opportunities.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to align chapel themes with the school’s Teaching for Transformation goals. 

Church and Community Connections:

  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with local pastors and church leaders.
  • Invite guest speakers and worship leaders for chapel and special events.
  • Represent the school in the broader Christian community, encouraging unity and shared ministry. 

Bible Instruction and Curriculum Support: 

  • Teach select Bible classes as assigned based on the needs of Manhattan Christian.
  • Support the development of Biblically-integrated curriculum and provide resources to faculty as needed
  • Collaborate with Bible teachers and academic leadership to ensure alignment across grade levels. 

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with spiritual retreats, mission trips and service opportunities.
  • Participate in staff devotions, prayer times, and professional development.
  • Support the school’s mission and values in all interactions and responsibilities. 

Qualifications: 

  • A mature and growing relationship with Jesus Christ that demonstrates a life of integrity and faith. 
    Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Christian Ministries, Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Experience working with students in a ministry and educational setting.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • A heart for discipleship and a passion for equipping the next generation to follow Christ. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience leading worship or organizing student-led worship teams.
  • Teaching certification and/or prior classroom teaching experience.
  • Familiarity with diverse church backgrounds and desire to promote unity in Christ.
